  • LEADERSHIP ALGONA PROGRAM

MISSION: To inspire leadership to support the common good and quality of life in Algona

The Algona Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to be in our 20th year of sponsoring the Leadership Algona program. We value our leadership program as it is incredibly and exceedingly beneficial to the community by helping inspire, educate and grow better, stronger leaders around the Algona area. Our program is one of the longest and most sustainable programs in the state of Iowa; often used as a guide for other communities wanting to start a leadership program.

The program gives both experienced and developing leaders a broader view of civic leadership responsibilities and opportunities through direct contact with a wide spectrum of institutions and people who shape the community where we live and work. It is an opportunity to network and create connections with other leaders and the local businesses. The program addresses the current community vision in the areas of civic engagement, quality of life, workforce, and housing.

Participants selected for Leadership Algona listen to presentations, debate issues, participate in class activities, visit with area leaders, tour facilities and get to know individuals representing a broad cross-section of the community. Attendees take a look into leadership roles and needs within our community and work together to design, plan, and execute a legacy project that will have a lasting impact on Algona area.

The Leadership Algona program is comprised of participants who have an interest in leadership roles and community service, who reside in the Algona area, and who have a desire to see our area grow and prosper.
